Craps Table Layout Structure
Since Craps is also a casino table game, and as we discussed that casinos usually use casino chips bought from the casino cage.
And these casino chips are used on the Craps Layout for betting.
A craps table has been a difficult mystery for people who don’t know about the game and are just looking from the outside.
It can be scary for people like them to even think about diving into the game. So, Let’s read about the craps table layout.
The craps table is covered in felt that is printed with a diagram showing the spaces for the types of bets. There is a center section where Hardways and One Roll bets can be placed. The ends of the table each have sections for the Pass Line, Come, Place, Field, and other bets. The ends of the table are mirror images of each other.
Usually, the felt layout is green with white lettering, but sometimes casinos use other colors. And the size craps table is usually 4 feet wide and 12 feet long made with heavy wood and it also consists of a padded leather arm rail for the players.
The craps table layout is a printed layout showing the numbers and spaces to place different bets on, with the core being the place where one-roll bets are placed. You’ll see that each craps table section has Pass Line, Place, Come, Field, and other types of bets.
Both ends of the craps table are a mirror image of each other.
A Craps Layout is a surface fabric that displays the various bets, in a bathtub-like structure.
On one side is the casino table bank with casino chips in stacks of 20 while on the other side is a long mirror.
The U-shaped table has duplicate layouts and a standing space of about eight to ten players.
At the core of the craps table layout, there are additional bets used by the players from both sides of the table.
Now, talking about the casino employees that help with the smooth functioning of the game, there are basically four casino employees assigned to one craps table, namely
- A Boxman, being the only employee that’s seated, is the one who manages the casino chips, tokens, and checks and manages the dealings of the players.
- Two Base Dealers, standing on both sides of the Boxman help the players in collecting and paying the bets at every round of the game.
- A Stickman is the one who stands across the boxman, and he directs the base dealers on taking bets and paying off the bets at the center of the table and helps with announcing the winners of each round at the game and moves the dice around using a wooden stick.
And these employees always look for each other in terms of mistakes or errors while the bets are going on and the results.
How Does Craps Work?
Craps is not an easy casino table game to understand, and it usually puts people off when it comes to trying out the game without the knowledge of how the game of Craps works.
First and foremost, you need to know that the bets placed at the core of a craps table are made to favor the house to the most extent.
While the most favorable bets for the players are the free odds section and the pass line section.
The Two Base dealers standing at either side of the table manage the bets placed on either side. Since both sides are a mirror image of each other, it does not matter if a player chooses either one of them to put their bets on while the core section of the craps table betting is dealt with by the Stickman.
The players can only place on one side of the craps table layout if they so chose to put their bets on the pass line or the free odds section.
Talking about how the game of craps works, first the players decide which section they will be putting their bets on by placing their chips/tokens on the desired section on the layout, followed by rolling a pair of dice on the table. The player who throws the pair of dice on the board is known as the Shooter.
When a round starts, it usually has two parts, that is, Come Out and Point, where the player makes the come out rolls and shoots the pair of dice in a way that hits the farther back wall.
If only one dice hits the wall, the shot is considered to be invalid.
If the result of the come-out roll is 2, 3, or 12, it is called crapping out, and/or craps and the shooter keeps rolling the dice until they roll a seven. A come-out roll of seven or eleven suggests that the pass line wins and the don’t pass loses.
If the come-out rolls are 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10; these numbers on come-out roll, it establishes a point to pass or to win before rolling a seven.
When another round is due to start, the base dealer flips a button on the ON side of the craps table, and the next round begins in a similar fashion as the first round.
Players can place their bets until a point has been established.
